The Bartow County Fire Department responded to two fires on Sunday evening. One occurred in Kingston after a vehicle struck a power pole. The vehicle caught fire but both occupants escaped safely and were transported to Floyd Medical Center for treatment. The power pole that was struck was the main switch on Highway 293 that supplies Kingston and Bartow County going out towards Rome, which left many without power. Georgia Power replaced the pole early Monday morning.

The department also responded to a residential fire on 76 Austin Road in Cartersville. The single-wide mobile home received heavy damage and is likely to be deemed a total loss. Two dogs died in the blaze, but there were no other injuries.
