Cartersville Police were dispatched to Kay Jewelers on Cherokee Place at around 8:18 Monday night in reference to an armed robbery.
An employee received a phone call from a male asking what time they closed. When told nine o’clock, the man said he’d be there soon.
A short time later, a black male around five foot ten wearing a black sweater or long-sleeve knit shirt and pants or jeans with a white surgical mask and gloves walked in. He had a white Walmart bag with a silver handgun underneath it.
He put the gun in the employee’s face and demanded all of the jewelry. A second employee went to the color jewelry section and gave him three shelves of sapphires and amethysts. The man then thanked them and told them they could now call police.
He drove off in what was possibly a black Toyota Corolla. No one was injured.
