According to Chief Robert Jones, received credible information that an illicit drug transaction was about to occur at the lot of the Hardee’s located on Princeton Boulevard.

Several marked police units approached the scene in attempt to apprehend the suspects. One of the suspects used his vehicle offensively against an officer by ramming the front end of a patrol car. The suspect then struck two parked and unattended vehicles. The suspect attempted to run down an officer who was standing in the parking lot. Acting out of fear for his life, the officer fired approximately three rounds into the suspect’s vehicle. The officer fired several more rounds into the suspect’s vehicle as it tried to ram another police car.

The suspect lost control of the vehicle and drove into a nearby ditch. Adairsville officers then took the driver into custody and discovered a large quantity of marijuana. None of the officers or suspects suffered any injuries.

Cajo Marque Harris, 36-years-old of Lithonia Georgia, was arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, unlawful use of a communications device, and numerous traffic-related offenses. Also arrested was Varriel James Adams Junior, 40-years-old of Atlanta. Adams was charged with conspiracy to possession marijuana with the intent to distribute and unlawful use of a communications device. Both subjects are being held at the Bartow County Jail.
