The Adairsville Tigers fell to Haralson County on Friday night by a score of 13-12, to drop to 2-2 on the season and 1-1 in region play.

Both defenses held tall as the first points of the game came off the foot of Emmanuel Lopez for a 42-yard field goal with 7:13 in the first quarter. That score would hold until 4:34 left in the first half when Clay Hyatt scored for an 11-yard touchdown run to give Haralson County a 7-3 lead, which would lead to the halftime score.

The Tigers would score nine points in the third quarter to take a 12-7 lead over Haralson. Lopez connected on a 29-yard field goal, before Ty Shawn Savage scored on a reverse. That score was set up by a fumble on the preceding possession. The Tigers lined up for a 2-point conversion, but Courtney Slocum fell a half-yard short.

Harlson County scored with just 1:56 left on the clock on a Marc Harris 3-yard touchdown run, but failed to convert its 2-point conversion. The Tigers marched down the field and had Emmanuel Lopez set up for a 43-yard game winning field goal with just 43 seconds left in the contest. The Haralson defense got a push and Lopez’s kick was blocked, allowing Haralson County to hold on for the win.

The Tigers will look to get back on the winning side next week as they travel to North Murray for a 7:30 PM kickoff Friday night.
