The Adairsville Tigers (9-1, 7-1) beat the Gordon Central Warriors (1-9, 1-7) on Friday night by a score of 49-14. The win sealed the Tigers as the second seed in Region 6-AAA. The Tigers scored early and often and took a 42-0 lead into halftime. Gordon Central through a pick-six on their first offensive possession, and on their second possession, they muffed a punt, which set up a Dorian Pitt 5-yard touchdown run and extend their lead to 14-0. On their next possession, Marcus Childers threw a 71- yard touchdown pass to Tony Hale to give the Tigers a 21-point lead. Sidnee Johnson and Clay Duncan had touchdown runs before the half, which brought the lead to 42-0.
In the second half, Childers and Hale hooked up once more on a 2-yard touchdown pass to give the Tigers 49 points. The Warriors were able to score tiwce in the fourth quarter to cut into the Adairsville lead, but it was too little, too late as the Tigers captured a playoff spot with their win. They will play next week at 7:30.
