Bryan Somers was arrested two weeks ago and charged with four counts of child molestation, two counts of enticing a child for indecent purposes, one count of possession of child pornography and three counts of distribution of child pornography. Somers attorney, Minerva Blanchette appeared before Judge Jeffery Watkins Tuesday afternoon and requested bond, not to exceed $50,000. Somers and his wife of three years rent a home in Cartersville. Blanchette said that Somers is active with the Lake Pointe Church Community and in the local sports community. Blanchette said that Somers would reside with his parents in Dawsonville until his wife could move from the home. He would then move back to Cartersville. Somers has lost both jobs but is trained in auto bodywork and construction. His wife has requested a visit with him but Somers discouraged the visit.
Meanwhile, the state asked Judge Watkins to deny bond. Somers had hundreds of nude images of his victims on a camera. Based on a tip, investigators were able to trace one of the images that had been distributed from Somers computer. The state is still within a 90 window of setting bond for the defendant. Bond was denied.
