The Cartersville Purple Hurricanes picked up a win in their final game of the regular season last night. The Canes beat Lafayette by a score of 13-3 and finished with a 15-11 overall record that included an 11-3 region record. The Canes next game will be in the GHSA AAAA playoffs as the No. 2 seed from region 7. Adairsville clinched a spot in the state playoffs with a big region win over Murray County last night. The Tigers won by a score of 11-0 and improved to 10-5 in region play. The Woodland Wildcats baseball team picked up its sixth region win of the season as it beat North Springs by a score 7-3. Woodland will conclude its season on Friday against North Springs. Cass was handed a loss from North Atlanta last night as it fell 10-5. Cass and North Atlanta will face off again on Friday, to conclude their season play. And Excel fell to Trion by a score of 7-0 and remained winless in region play. They are 1-19 overall and 0-18 inside their region.

Today in soccer, Cartersville will host North Paulding at 5:30.

Today in baseball, Excel will host St. Anne-Pacelli at Lakepoint at 5:30 and Adairsville will host Calhoun at 5:55. Should the Tigers win, they will clinch the third seed out of Region 6-AAA and will play next Friday against the No. 2 seed from Region 7-AAA, which would likely be Dawson County.

Tomorrow in sports, two local teams have baseball games at 5:55. Cass will travel to North Atlanta and Woodland will travel to North Springs for the final games of the 2016 season.

Three teams have soccer matches Friday evening with the Adairsville boys team traveling to Chattooga at 5:00, Cartersville hosting Northgate at 5:30 and the Adairsville girls will play for the Region 6-AAA Champinship on the road at Sonoraville with that time still to be announced.
