In 2015, former Cartersville tailback Kalin Heath stepped foot at Kansas State. Just three years later, another Cartersville product will do the same. Senior receiver EJ Turner signed his NLI with the Wildcats on Wednesday morning at Cartersville High School.

“Oh, it’s great,” Turner said with excitement. “Me and my family (sic) love it! We’ve been talking about this since I was a kid and it’s a dream come true.”

Turner announced through his Twitter account on Thursday that he would be committing to Kansas State. He told WBHF about his decision.

“Kansas State is family. I like what they’re doing down there, where they’re headed to, and how the future is going to be.

Turner moved to Cartersville two years ago and was a part of the 2016 state championship team with the Canes. He talked about his time with Cartersville.

“It’s been great. At my old school, I didn’t really like it. I moved down here and the coaching staff is way better down here. I like what they’ve done to me and help me get better.

Turner’s Wildcats finished the regular season 7-5 and will play UCLA in the Cactus Bowl on Tuesday, December 26th at 9:00 PM on ESPN.
