First responders received a call at 1:38 Tuesday afternoon for a possible drowning at the Etowah River adjacent to Old River Road between State Route 293 and Joe Frank Harris Parkway by the railroad trestle bridge.

17-year-old Sergio Cadenas of Dallas had gone under water while swimming and did not surface due to the current being too strong. New Riverside Ochre made sure they were not pumping water into the river in order to help the first responders.

At around 3:45, Georgia Department of Natural Resources personnel recovered his body approximately 200 to 300 yards down the river from where he was last seen.
