We traditionally hear the tornado sirens the first Wednesday of each month; this is normally a test.  However, if you hear the tornado sirens today, the threat of a tornado really exists.  Officials with the Bartow Emergency Management Office say they are watching the weather systems.  If the threat of a tornado develops, the sirens will be sounded.  Those who have signed up for telephone and text notices will be alerted to the threat.

Gordon and Calhoun City Schools are closing early today due to the threat of inclement weather.  Cartersville Schools Superintendent, Dr. Howard Hinesley says they are also watching the weather systems.  He says at this time there is no change in the school day for city students.
