The Adairsville Tigers (6-5, 3-4) fell to the Cedar Grove Saints on Friday night by a score of 48-13 in the opening round of the GHSA Class 3-A Football Playoffs.

Cedar Grove hit pay dirt three times before Adairsville could end the first half with a field goal as time expired. The Saints would open up the third quarter with a score to push the lead to 28-3, but Adairsville had an answer. Following a fake punt, Mason Boswell would connect with Travon Branch for a 50-yard touchdown pass to give the Tigers some life.

Unfortunately for Adairsville, the injuries and it suffered in the recent weeks came to light as the Tigers looked tired after matching up with the No. 1 team in Class AAA for most of the night, with several players playing both ways. The Saints would score 20 unanswered before Josh Honea would connect on his second field goal of the night late in the fourth quarter.

Adairsville certainly improved after missing the playoffs in 2016 and has plenty of momentum to build off entering the 2018 season.
