An Acworth man was arrested on Sunday night after fighting with Bartow County deputies. Deputies responded to a residence on Ward Circle in Acworth due to 48-year-old Marion Jenkins allegedly threatening to kill his wife and burn his residence down.

Upon arrival, one deputy was immediately engaged in a foot pursuit which led to a physical struggle. The deputy said Jenkins attempted to place his legs around his neck and remove his service pistol from his holster.

After an unsuccessful warning, a second deputy had to administer two five-second Taser cycles, punch Jenkins in the face, administer a third Taser cycle, and hold his head down before Jenkins finally stopped resisting.

During a pat down, they found a clear bag with various pills in a front pocket. EMS cleared Jenkins of his injuries and deputies took him to jail.

Jenkins was charged with aggravated assault against a law enforcement officer by strangulation, battery against a law enforcement officer, two counts of felony obstructing law enforcement officers, attempted removal of a weapon from a public official, terroristic threats and acts, possession of a controlled substance in schedule two, and drugs not kept in their original container.
