Two Cartersville football players will continue as teammates at the next level. Nyvin Nelson and TJ Horton signed the National Letters of Intent with UT-Chattanooga on Early Signing Day Wednesday morning.

Did the fact that one was going affect the other’s decision?

“Yeah, because we are really close,” Horton told WBHF.

Nelson talked about why he chose UT-Chattanooga to play collegiate ball at.

“It just felt like home. It felt like a place I could see myself playing for the next four years and just a place I fell in love with.

Horton said that he chose the school because it had been there from the very beginning and that he felt it was the best position to put himself in.

Both teammates talked about their tenure at Cartersville:

Nelson: “It was a show. I enjoyed every minute. The thing I’m going to take from these past four years is to learn your drive and be successful with your drive.

Horton: “(This team) changed me into a man basically. It put a hard work ethic in me, and that is what I needed. I’m ready for college. (Coach Joey King) put me in the best stage.

The Mocs finished the season 3-8 overall and 3-5 in the Southern Conference.
