RE:      Scheduled Events for the King Holiday Weekend celebration

 

Sunday, January 18, 2015, Community-wide Candlelight Service at 6:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 147 Jones Street, Cartersville.  Coach Joey King (Head Football Coach at Cartersville High School) is the keynote speaker.  Mt. Zion Male Chorus will be the commemorative choir under the direction of Mr. Victor Morgan.

 

Monday, January 19, 2015:

Youth Rally will be from 10:00-12:00 noon at St. Luke A.M.E. Church, 130 Jones Street, Cartersville, Georgia.     The youth from various churches and in the community will participate in song, poetry, dance, skits, etc.

 

Line up for the parade begins at 1:15 at the Civic Center, 435 West Main Street, Cartersville, Georgia (across from the Cartersville/Bartow County Library).  Grand Marshals are Mr. and Mrs. Albert (Kansadie) Weems.

 

Parade will begin promptly at 2:00 p.m. and will stop at the Frank Moore Administration Building with Commissioner Steve Taylor and Mayor Matt Santini addressing the crowd where there will be a wreath laying ceremony.   The parade will then proceed from the Frank Moore Administration Building  to the Cartersville Civic Center. There the Brotherhood Program will begin immediately and  the speaker will be Rev. Ted Smith, Senior Pastor at First Presbyterian Church, Cartersville, Georgia  30120.

 

The day festivities will climax with a reception and birthday cake after the program.
