The Cartersville Lady Canes volleyball team fell in its Class AAAA second round playoff match Tuesday evening at Northside-Columbus in straight sets.

Northside took two closely decided sets 25-23 and 25-22, before closing out the Lady Canes in the third set of the best-of-five, 25-15. Northside-Columbus advances to the third round of the state playoffs where the bracket will be re-seeded. The Lady Canes, who won the Area 5-AAAA championship, had their season end with a 28-17 mark.

Today in softball, Cartersville and Woodland continue their respective tournament runs on the road in the second round of the GHSA State Playoffs.

Cartersville, the third seed out of region 5, will hit the road to play Northside-Columbus, the first seed out of region one and the top-ranked team in Class 4-A, today at 5:00. Cartersville is ranked as the 93rd best team in the state, while Northside-Columbus is ranked as the 25th best team in the state.

Woodland, the third seed out of region 7, Class 5-A will travel to Fayetteville to take on Whitewater, the top seed out of region three, also at 5:00 today. Woodland is ranked as the 198th best team in the state, while Whitewater is ranked as the 60th best team in the state.

LakePoint’s new Champions Center has been selected as the host site for the Globetrotters annual training camp to be held November 28 – December 9. As a part of the partnership, LakePoint will host the Globetrotters training camp exhibition game that is open to the public on Thursday, December 8 at 7:00 p.m.

The exhibition game will provide fans with the opportunity to purchase general admission or floor seating. Additionally, Magic Pass, a special pre-game meet, and greet with the stars of the Harlem Globetrotters will be available for purchase.
