The Cartersville baseball team improved to 6-1 on the season with a 5-3 victory over the Lambert Longhorns.

In the fifth, Devin Warner lined a solo homer to center field to make the score 3-2 before a pair of walks to Noah Daniel and J.P. Martin.  Jake Gooch hit a line drive later in the inning into right field that was misplayed with an error by the Lambert outfielder. The play allowed two more runs to score and the Hurricanes held a 5-2 lead.

Jacob Fowler and Mason Barnett combined to pitch five innings and allow just two runs (one earned).

 

Cass had the potential tying run on third base and winning run at second in the bottom of the seventh, but could not push them across in a 2-1 home loss to Sonoraville Tuesday night.

Cass’ Cody Johnson pitched a gem, allowing just two runs on a pair of hits and a walk. Johnson struck out ten.

Cass is now 5-3 on the season after starting 5-0.

 

The Georgia Highlands College baseball team swept Roane State Community College in a doubleheader on Tuesday by scores of 6-2 and 5-4.

Jake Lovvorn earned the pitching victory for the Chargers, throwing five strong innings in game One, while Johnathan Wite was 2-3 at the plate with a home run.

In the nightcap, Roane State took a 4-0 lead with two runs in both the first and second innings but the Chargers rallied late to win 5-4 in dramatic style.

The Chargers are now 8-8 on the season.
