The Georgia Highlands Chargers men’s basketball team rolled to an 87-71 win over Gordon State. The Chargers closed out the first half with a flurry leading 41-29. GHC opened the second half with a 12-0 run to take a 21-point lead. The Chargers shot 48.6 percent from the field to Gordon State’s 40.6 percent, but the Charger defense forced Gordon State to 26 turnovers.

GHC had 5 players in double digits led by Ty Cockfield with 17 points, Kyvon Davenport with 15 points, and Ty’lik Evans with 13 points. Antonio Wade and Kamar McKnight with 10 each. The Chargers are now 15-0 on the season and 2-0 in conference play.

 

The Georgia Highlands College women’s basketball team returned from holiday break and traveled to Hanceville, Alabama to take on Wallace State, but unfortunately fell 76-65. GHC held the game close most of the first half trailing 38-32. Wallace State extended its lead to 11 points 53-42 to end the third period of play. The Lady Chargers battled back late in the fourth but it wasn’t enough. The Lady Chargers were led by Pam Diokpara with 20 points, Sydney Garnigan with 15 points, and Kateryna Khomenko with 13 points.  GHC goes to (6-10) on the season.
