The Cartersville Purple Hurricanes boy’s basketball team clinched a spot in the postseason with a come-from-behind 65-61 win against Chapel Hill on Tuesday night. JKobe Orr had 21 points, 15 rebounds and four steals for Cartersville, T.J. Horton finished with 13 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals, and Jaylon Pugh added 12 points and 10 rebounds. Cartersville is now 19-5 on the season and 9-3 in region play.

The Adairsville boy’s basketball team also clinched a state playoff berth Tuesday with a 47-43 win over Ringgold on Tuesday. This is Adairsville’s first playoff berth since 2008. The Adairsville defense is what allowed the Tigers to get out to an early lead. Ringgold scored just six first-quarter points and made just two shots from the field. Adairsville is now 17-11 on the season.

The No. 2 ranked Georgia Highlands Chargers men’s basketball team fell to Gordon State by a score of 67-65 on Tuesday. The Chargers tied the game late but missed their last shot, which allowed Gordon State to take the ball down the court and win the game on a put back to end the Chargers win streak. The Chargers were led by Kamar McKnight, who had 18 points, and Rico Bonds added 12. The Chargers are now 22-1 on the season and 9-1 in conference play.

The Chattahoochee Tech men’s basketball team beat South Georgia Tech 80-78 on Tuesday night to improve to 17-7 on the season and 5-5 in conference play.

The Chattahoochee Tech Lady Eagles fell to South Georgia Tech Wednesday night by a score of 88-63, to fall to 4-6 in conference play. The Eagles were tied in the first quarter, but scored just 10 points in the second quarter and were outscored by 25 points for the rest of the game.
