The Cass baseball team rallied for eight runs in the bottom of the second inning Wednesday to take a 9-2 lead over visiting Gilmer. The Colonels then held on down the stretch for an 11-6 non-region win. Clay Means went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs in the leadoff spot to lead the Cass offensive attack. Cass starter Austin Pruett (4 IP, 2R, 1ER, 5H, 2BB, 3K) earned the pitching win. Means (2 IP, 0 ER, 3H, 1BB, 1K) worked the fifth and sixth frames in relief and Steven Spell (1 IP, 2ER, 4H, 1BB, 2K) wrapped up the seventh inning on the mound for the Colonels. Cass is now 2-0 on the young season.

 

The Chargers went on the road for a 100-67 win over Atlanta Metro College. Georgia Highlands, which improved to 24-1 on the season and 11-1 in conference play, was led by Ty’Lik Evans and Antonio Wade with 16 points. Kyvon Davenport added 15 points in the victory. The Chargers return to the Corral on Saturday versus Eat Georgia State College.

 

Behind four players in double digits in scoring, the Lady Chargers improved to 14-13 on the season and 9-2 in conference play, with a conference road win over Atlanta Metro College 64-57. Freshman Kateryna Khomenko had a great game on both ends of the court, with 13 points, 13 rebounds, five blocks, and three assists. D’Andra Pringle added 16 points and five rebounds, while Brianna Davis had 14 points and Taylor Harris with 10 points.
