The Cass Lady Colonels’ softball team managed only one hit Wednesday evening in a 9-0 loss to Gordon Lee at Berry College. The Lady Trojans struck for five runs in the first inning and two more in both the second and fourth innings for a shutout victory in five innings.
Cass is now 0-2 on the season.
The Adairsville Lady Tigers exchanged leads with the Lady Warriors at Lakeview-Ft. Oglethorpe Tuesday night, but took the lead for good with a five-run sixth in a 12-7 win at LFO. Adairsville totaled 13 hits and pitcher Loren Harris (7 IP, 7R, 0ER, 5H, 3BB, 4K) tossed a complete game.
Adairsville is now 2-1 on the season.
The Georgia Sports Writers Association has released its preseason high school football poll. The GSWA ranks the top 10 schools in each classification in a poll that is updated weekly. Cartersville is ranked No. 1 in Class 4-A.
