The Cartersville boys basketball team defeated LaGrange 64-60 on Saturday night to improve to 10-2 on the season and 3-0 in region play. TJ Horton scored 25 points, Perignon Dyer added 15, while Jaylon Pugh contributed 13.

 

The Cartersville girls basketball team fell to LaGrange 46-35, despite 13 points from Cio Seigler Saturday night. The Lady Canes are 5-8 on the season and 0-3 in region play.

 

The Adairsville Lady Tigers lost a heart-breaker on Saturday to Rockmart by a score of 53-52. The Lady Jackets hit a free throw with 20 seconds left in the contest to take a 1-point lead, which would prove to be enough. Nakiyah Washington led the Lady Tigers with 16 points. Josie Summerville and Havyn Isaac also reached double-digit scoring with 11 and 10 points respectively. The Lady Tigers are now 2-13 on the season.

 

The Adairsville boys basketball team also fell on Saturday to Rockmart by a score of 51-45, despite leading by two at the half. Hunter Hice and Cody Henderson led the Tigers in scoring with nine points each. Adairsville is now 7-8 on the season and 3-3 in region play.

 

The Woodland boys grabbed their second region win of the season on Friday night with an 84-81 win over East Paulding. Connor Gallagher led the Wildcats in scoring with 13 points. He was followed by DJ Robinson, who had 11. Woodland is now 4-10 on the season and 2-5 in region play.

 

The Cass boys fell to Carrollton by a score of 56-50 on Friday evening, as they were unable to climb back from an 8-point halftime deficit. Ethan Carter and Carter Hedden scored 11 points each for Cass to lead the Colonels in scoring. Cass is now 9-5 on the season and 3-3 in region play.

 

The Woodland girls basketball team picked up its first region win of the season with a 56-51 win over East Paulding. Whitney Harris led Woodland with 22 points in the contest, as all but one of those points were scored in the second half. Woodland is now 3-8 on the season and 1-5 in region play.

 

The Cass girls fell to Carrollton 48-35 on Friday, as they were unable to climb back from a 10-point halftime deficit. Lyric Curtis and Kyla Michienzi scored eight points each for the Lady Colonels to lead their team in scoring. Cass is now 9-5 on the season and 3-3 in region play.

 

Cartersville quarterback Trevor Lawrence competed at the US Army All-American Bowl on Saturday, as his East team fell to the West team 17-16. Lawrence completed 11 of his 17 pass attempts for 83 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. The Clemson commit also picked up 13 yards on the ground with five rush attempts.
