The Lady Canes scored twice in the top of the first inning Saturday afternoon at Darlington and never looked back on their way to a 15-4 opening day rout of the Lady Tigers in a non-region game.

The Lady Canes pounded out 16 hits in the game, including a grand slam home run by Colbi Ballard and five more extra-base hits by her teammates.

 

The Cartersville football team emerged victorious over Westminster 31-0 in Friday night’s scrimmage, while Woodland beat Adairsville 21-7.

Trevor Lawrence threw for 134 yards with two touchdowns to Marcus Gray and Jackson Lowe, who totaled 46 rushing yards and 20 receiving yards in the contest. Rico Frye added a 55-yard touchdown run and finished with 75 yards on five carries.

Woodland quarterback Brody Williams threw a touchdown in the Wildcats’ victory over the Tigers. Woodland scored three times in the third quarter, including two touchdown runs by running back Jimmy Davis. Adairsville’s B.J. Roper scored on a 70-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
