The Woodland Wildcats baseball team dropped to 9-2 on the season with a 2-1 loss to Calhoun on Friday night. Woodland had the bases loaded twice in the early innings, but was only able to scrape together one run and left the bases loaded. Coach Coursey said that was a big reason for the loss. Woodland pitcher Trent Harrison tossed 6.2 strong innings and allowed both runs and struck out eight in the contest. Woodland’s mental cues will certainly be addressed as the team had two errors, two hit batsmen, and three walks.

The Cartersville baseball team grabbed a 4-1 win of James Clemens High School in Alabama Thrusday night to improve to 8-1 on the season. Cartersville pitcher Anthony Siegler tossed a complete game going seven innings, allowing two hits and striking out nine. Siegler also tripled and scored a run in the first inning. Noah Daniel scored twice and added a hit in the contest.
