A local man was killed in Paulding County on Wednesday night.

Paulding County deputies responded to a 911 call in Dallas at around 7:12 in reference to a heated domestic dispute where shots were possibly fired. At the same time, another 911 call was placed by a different caller to Paulding E-911 in reference to a possible accident at the same location.

Once Deputies arrived on scene they located a passenger car directly across the street from 3805 Mt. Tabor Church Road which had crashed through a fence and came to rest against a tree. When deputies checked the car, they immediately discovered a male victim who was identified as 28-year-old Justin McKenzie of Cartersville deceased in the driver’s seat of the vehicle.

Once detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division arrived on scene, they began speaking to the witnesses and other parties involved about the incident. According to what detectives have been told, 18-year-old Jordan Holt of Dallas shot McKenzie while he was in his vehicle. According to Holt, there was a history of domestic violence between him and McKenzie over the course of the last year. McKenzie was the ex-boyfriend of Holt’s mother. At this point, detectives are currently investigating what led up to the shooting.

As of now, Holt has been arrested and charged with reckless conduct with more charges possible in the future. Holt is currently being held in the Paulding County Detention Center without bond.
