On February 4th, 2018 at approximately 1600 hours officers with the Adairsville Police Department were dispatched to Patty’s Truck Stop located at 940 Hwy 140 NW in Adairsville in reference to a male subject asking customers for money. Upon arriving at the location, officers made contact with a male subject, later identified as Gregg Swatkowski, 49, last known address being in Windermere, Florida. Officers noticed Mr. Swatkowski wearing what appeared to be hospital clothing and also observed a hospital wrist band on his right wrist. Swatkowski told the officers he was driving a Cadillac Deville and had a flat tire on the Interstate so he stopped to get it repaired. Officers ran a record check on the license plate and 911 advised the vehicle was stolen out of Roswell, GA. Officers placed Swatkowski under arrest for Theft by Receiving Stolen Property. Officers then contacted the hospital on the wrist band. The hospital, which is located in Fulton County, advised the officers Mr. Swatkowski had been evaluated and released earlier this date. The vehicle was impounded and Mr. Swatkowski was transported to the Bartow County Jail without incident.
