It was Homecoming Night at Cartersville on Friday night when the Cedartown Bulldogs came into Weinman Stadium. The Cartersville Purple Hurricanes (5-0, 1-0) walked away with a 41-7 win.
Cartersville struck first with a 67-yard touchdown pass from Trevor Lawrence to Jakobe Orr early in the first quarter to make the score 7-0.
The Purple Hurricanes got the ball back quickly and drove down the field for a 1 yard Trevor Lawrence touchdown run to go ahead 14-0
Jonathan Cruz got in on the scoring for the Purple Hurricanes with a 40-yard field goal to make the score 17-0.
Cartersville’s defense held strong again leading to a Rico Frye touchdown run, making the score 24-0 halfway through the second quarter.
The Canes were not finished in the second quarter. Trevor Lawrence found Ej Turner to stretch the lead to 31-0 with 5 minutes left in the half. Lawrence would find Jackson Lowe to close out the half with Cartersville ahead 38-0.
With a running clock in the second half, Jonathan Cruz added his second field goal of the game 41-0.
Cedartown was able to get on the board late in the fourth quarter 41-7, that would be the final score.
Cartersville will be back in action next week at Central Carroll with kickoff set for 7:30.
