In the regular September meeting of the Cartersville City Board of Education, the School Board recognized Willie Moultrie, Unit Director for Service Solutions, as the HEARTS Employee of the Month. Willie received a $50.00 gift card to Longhorn’s Steakhouse and his name will be added to our perpetual HEARTS plaque displayed at the Cartersville Board Office. New Frontier of Bartow County, Inc. proudly sponsors this award.
Principals gave updates and reports on each of their schools
During the Business Session, the Board approved several bid recommendations from the Superintendent: Manning Brothers Food Equipment Company for Cartersville Elementary School’s additional hot/cold serving line in the amount of $16,956.01, low bid specified; Milner, Inc., Norcross, GA for 2 Ricoh copiers MP9003 for Cartersville High School in the amount of $23,151.00, low bid specified; Trammell Lawn Care, LLC from Cedartown, GA for the renovation of Cartersville High School baseball field infield for total cost of $32,200.00, low bid specified
Board approved a ratification for the purchase of a school bus from Thomas Bus Sales of GA, from Jefferson, GA in the amount of $89,967.00.
Under Consent, the following items were approved: St. Francis of Assisi Church to use CMS parking lot on October 8, 2017; several overnight / out of state trips – CHS Y-Club, November 12-14, 2017 to attend annual State YMCA Youth Assembly in Atlanta, GA; CHS DECA Executive Officers, October 19-20, 2017 to attend Fall Leadership Development Conference in Atlanta, GA; CMS 7th & 8th Grade Chorus, March 15-18, 2018 to perform and tour Nashville, TN and St. Louis, MO; and 3rd Grade Challenge Students to go to Raccoon Mountain Caverns, Chattanooga, TN. Several Surplus items were also approved.
The School Board voted to approve resignations from:
-Allan Early, Bus Driver, effective 9/8/2017.
-Thomas Zaring, effective 10/5/2017.
Classified employees approved are as follows:
-Tammy Stewart, Bus Driver, effective 9/19/2017.
The Board voted to approve Promotion/Transfer as follows:
-Tiffany Tallent, High School Cafeteria Manager, effective 9/8/2017.
