CartersvillePurpleHurricanesFBhelmetAfter falling short twice this season, the Cartersville Purple Hurricanes finally delivered a shutdown with a 48-0 victory over the Southeast Whitfield Raiders. The Canes started off slow last week, but Kalin Heath was able to score within the first several minutes of the game, and the Canes never looked back. Cartersville played strong on offense and defense, but the big play when Tiamon Pennymon turned a would-be loss into a 25-yard touchdown in the second quarter.

The Canes improved to 7-1 on the season and 5-0 in region play, while the Raiders fell to 5-3 with a 2-3 record in region play. The Canes will travel to Lafayette next week and play at 7:30 from Lafayette, Ga.
