BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. (January 11, 2018) – The Bartow County Board of Education is one step closer to finding its next superintendent.
The newly hired search firm, King-Cooper and Associates, recently accepted multiple applications ahead of the January 29 deadline. So far, applicants represent several school leadership positions, including principals, central office administrators, and superintendents. In addition to the completed applications, the search firm received dozens of inquiries from prospective applicants and most have expressed intent to apply.
“We typically receive over half of the total number of applications in the last few days of the application period,” said Sandy Addis, lead facilitator of the Bartow County search. “A significant number of high-quality applications is expected by the deadline due to the positive reputation of the school system and the attractiveness of the position and the community.”
As mentioned in a prior press release, Bartow County community members and employees will play a large role in the quest to find the district’s next leader. Next week, a survey will be sent by email to all school system employees. A survey for parents, students, and community members will also be posted on the Bartow County School System website next week. The Board of Education asks that concerned citizens go to www.bartow.k12.ga.us and complete the anonymous survey by January 22. When surveys are completed, King-Cooper and Associates will tabulate the results, and board members will use the information to establish a profile by which all applications will be evaluated.
Board members are on track to start the interview process next month. They hope to select the best candidate to fill Superintendent Dr. John Harper’s shoes in March, about two months before Superintendent Harper is set to retire.
