At an organizational meeting on Monday night, the Adairsville City Council hired Mike Jones as the city’s new chief of police.
Jones had been employed with the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office for 31 years, most recently as Major and commander of the enforcement bureau. He was responsible for the bureau’s budget and was also the training director and Major of their internal affairs bureau.
Jones takes over the Adairsville Police Department’s leadership position, temporarily held by Captain Louis Dean, after the death of former Chief of Police Rick Townsend from cancer last month.
