Runners will lace up their running shoes on Saturday morning October 1st for the 12th annual Advocates for Children Duck Dash. Registration has already started for the event that will benefit Advocates for Children.

The 5K chip timed race will take off from the parking lot of Cartersville Primary School at 315 Etowah Drive at 8:00, with the Fun Run for children starting at around 8:45. On-site registration the morning of the race will begin at 7:00. However, participants are encouraged to pre-register in order to guarantee receipt of a technical fiber race T-shirt, available in sizes from youth sizes to adult.

The 5K course is considered to be fast and flat with some rolling hills. The overall elevation change is about two percent. The Fun Run course, which is designed primarily for children eight years of age and under, measures about seven-tenths of a mile. It is open to children of all ages.

Runners or walkers may preregister by visiting the Advocates for Children website AdvoChild.org. Fun Run early bird registration is $10 or $15 on the day of the race. Early bird registration for the 5K is $25. On the day of registration, the 5K is $35. Early bird registration is available until Friday, September 16th.

All proceeds from the race benefit Advocates for Children, which is a non-profit organization that operates eight programs for the prevention and treatment of child abuse. Advocates for Children serves more than 3,000 families and children annually.
